Wish to join SETI@home, having problems

I've decided to put my three computers to work.

I downloaded the CLI and the Seti Driver.

When I enter the info. in the dos box, to set up the account, It says file or directory not found, then says it
can't connect to the server.

I tried to go on the Seti@home webpage (@berkeley), but the website pages are taking forever to load for
some reason.

If someone could give me some assitance, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll be on for another 1/2 hour
(I know it's late) and I'll check in tomorrow.

Thanks in advance.

JbChance,

Do you have setidriver set up with Orangekid's Proxy Server or do you have the proxy section blank?

Proxy section is blank.

I went to the webpage written by NoReMoRsE and printed out the page, so I could check it off as I went.

The proceedure for entering Orange Kid's proxy isn't discussed until the end of the page, so I hadn't got
to that yet.

Not sure how far you've gotten.. but sounds like the server might be down at the moment.

If you've given it your email address then it's probably just waiting to get a new work unit. Put in OK's proxy information and you can snag a few from him to work on.. just be sure to click "Save Config" after changes.

Welcome aboard 🙂

Thanks for the help.....

I tried again and I'm up and running. Not sure how fast, but I'll play with it when I'm not so tired.

I'm going to put it on my little network at work (probably not the laptops). That consists of two 'puters:
A duron 700mhz and a K6-2 300 Mhz. The second one is the secretary's; she'll just have to deal😉

Do you think it's worth it to run it on the K6-2? Let me know.

That PC will feel lonely and neglected it it's not running something, though from a team standpoint it would be more efficient running OGR. There may be someone willing to swap or you can give OGR a spin just for fun.

FWIW, I was having problems sending WUs from a few PCs this morning. They kept timing out. I assumed Berkeley had some issues (boy, that's a loaded statement 🙂 )
