Wish they made 'clog' shoes that were more geared to hiking/walking long distance. .

I've been wearing clogs for years. Recently, I've been working out more and bought a pair of nice name brand hiker/walkers. They have the little curved thing above the heel. I got overly ambitious in a new pair of shoes and walked about 5 miles. All the skin on the back of my foot above my heel is now gone. Now I remember why I started wearing clogs. . .

Owwwwww. Why do shoes have to have that curved thing at the back of the foot? I guess I'm going to have to tape it up to wear them until I get use to them at some magical point in the future. The shoe is very comfortable, except for that. . .

Anyway, this was just a general rant. . . later.

The only person that I knew that wore clogs was my grandfather. He liked them because he had diabetes and they didn't give him problems with his feet.

You aren't a 70 year old diabetic man by any chance, are you?

not feeling the clog thing for a guy...

also, you must have had some very ill fitting hiking shoes for them to rub against the back of your heal that much. did you wear no show socks or socks that were too small for you? usually a sock will cover that area and prevent skin rub.

Clogs are just for when you have to go out to the garage, or smoke, etc, and can't be bothered to put on real shoes for the short trip. Not hiking.

Yea, I bought some of the no show socks. That is probably what helped do it. They actually fit very well, just the up and down motion of the heel.

Guys wear clogs? lulz

Evidently quite a few considering all of the reviews on men's clogs out there. I can't stand anything over my heel. Never really could. I bought a pair of 'runners' because I thought it'd be awkward to wear clogs to a gym lol.

I was relieved when I finally found out about clogs. I can't be alone . . .

I wear merrell clogs. After I started wearing them it's hard to go back to regular shoes. Although i still wear regular shoes for sports. I think op's problem is because the skin on the back of his heel is not used to the contact due to prolonged use of clogs. Thats why i force myself to wear normal shoes to toughen up the skin back there

I wear normal shoes and I sometimes get the blisters on the back of my heels when switching to a new pair. It's quite gross really because it's a gradual process and doesn't hurt much, then you take them off and your socks are soaked in blood and stuck to the wound.

If you think a pair of clogs will work for "hiking," you are obviously not actually going hiking.

Well he's doing nothing but expressing his dislike for real shoes and love for clogs .. it would follow ...
I took it that he was wearing "a pair of nice name brand hiker/walkers" that he had bought for his 5 mi. walk, not clogs.

A lot of people who are on their feet all day wear wood sole clogs. They're supposed to be pretty comfortable. I /almost/ bought a Swedish pair that had a good price, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I don't generally care what people think, but they look pretty gay. It wouldn't be as big a problem if /I/ didn't think so too :^D
