Wish there were a chat feature or a realtime IM one here on the forums

heh...i've been playing PM tag with another AT'er (you know who you are!) and there are times i wish AT had either a chatroom feature where all the members logged on at any given time could chit chat with each other in realtime, or something similar to those AIM/ICQ things where you could add members to your userlist and be notified when someone logged on to the forums.

While a chat or IM could be fun... I think it would just make this forum more "AOL-like".

An instant messager and chat room would convert the respectable AnandTech Forums into an AOL chatroom (AKA-hell). If you want to instant message, use an intant messager such as AOL Instant Messenger, or AOL ICQ, or MSN Messenger, or Yahoo Messenger, or whatever other ones are out there. If you want to chat, go to bolt.com, or any site that offers "chatting" services...

she was logged onto the forums, and we were both posting messages...but she wasn't on AIM (*ahem*) so it wasn't of much use...
