Wish my father would stay completely out of my life and leave

This man is the single source of all the pain, tears, and dysfunction in our family from day one.

After marrying my mother, he abandoned her for 3 years in Pakistan. Then he came back out of the blue and said he was taking her to America. She gave up her established medical profession to completely start over and come with him.

During this intensely difficult time, he would tell her that she wasn't good enough to become a doctor here and to give up. Before I was born, she had given up speaking to him for months at a time and he was completely fine with it. She told me recently that he had even hit her back then.

My whole childhood is filled with memories of my parents fighting every single day and the fights were almost always initiated by him, often breaking down to the point of him throwing and breaking dishes. He is like a child that can't control himself.

Even now he is short tempered, unable to interact normally with other human beings, void of any morality, disablingly cheap, and steadily becoming senile.

After my mom's sister died recently this is what he told me:
"You're getting older now and your mom won't talk about things like this with you but I have to tell you. Your aunt's death was a huge tragedy for everyone. I could even see your mom thinking about suicide because of this."

What kind of person says something like that? And my mom is a psychiatrist. She helps people every day out of depression. She is the strongest person in our family.

It is not possible to have a normal back and forth exchange of ideas with him because his thinking is disturbed and perverted.

The whole time he has been in the picture, he has been a harmful component of our family. The only credit I can give him is that he supported my mom in the early years before she started working. Now she is making several times what he does. He's not contributing anything to the financial well being of our family and is only serving to hurt whatever emotional well being we have.

I can not stand him for a second any more and there is no hope for diplomacy. I wish my mom would end this sorry excuse for a relationship and leave him because we have nothing to gain from him being here.

My mom's approach to dealing with him is as this: He is an INSANE individual and therefore there is no reason to feel the hurt or pain from his actions that she would if a normal person did those things. I think this is a fucked up solution, but it could be the only one.

I can't consider him anything to me more than a sperm donor. You're all going to tell me to leave, but that won't do any good for my mom and my sister. I've already made up my mind that I won't attend his funeral.

i'm sorry for the things you have had to deal with, but the bolded statement is false.

Step 1) Buy several grams of cocaine (its a hellava drug). Note should be an 8 ball at least

Step 2) Plant in dads car, briefcase, something like that.

Step 3) Wait till he leaves then call the police. Tell them he was acting crazy and you saw a white powdery substance under his nose.

Step 4) Send him some vaseline in prison

Also on step 3 you could have a friend come over and punch you in eye to claim it was him. Your right this isnt the right way to handle things but when shit gets bad either you take him down or he takes you all down with him.

Trust me, I have my own qualms with the practice of psychiatry, but what what I said was true. She works with inpatients and criminals brought in for evaluations. Many of these people are or have been drug addicts. A lot of them have told her that she is the only person who ever listened to them or cared about them.

Can you get a job? Perhaps talk to him? How old are you anyway? Move out of house? Tell mother to file a restraining order? Move out, take ma with you?

That doesn't mean she doesn't feel drawn down by her sister's death. She can easily put on a face for work and her family, but deep down, if she has no one to talk to, and never vents her feelings... who knows what could happen. Not to say your mom is like that, but your presumption is off possibly because of your dislike of your father.

And she has a point, if she doesn't give a rat's ass about what he says, then more power to her. However, with that said, she should have just left his sorry ass (granted, this is still only one side of the story).

make it look like an accident...

Your mother is a professional care giver and care givers often enable family and friends in dysfunctional habits. Add to that your mother's cultural background and divorce becomes unthinkable. Not to mention that at her level the pool of eligible single men to date is very small, most of the guys she would consider peers come lugging a ton of their own baggage and most of them wouldn't look at her twice anyway..middle aged professional men generally want younger women.

Add it all up and it's very clear why she stays..

Then maybe she is the best person to deal with your father. Imagine what he'd be putting someone else through if she kicked him out. Do you know anyone that you hate enough to wish that on?

Your mother knows what she's doing, and she's making an educated decision to stay. Maybe you should change your focus from wishing things were different to making things better for your mom and your sister.

His mom has many reasons why she puts up with his dad, I'd bet most were cultural & generational.

I know it is difficult, but please stop painting other women [and men] with your own self-loathing & low self-esteem issues. Most mature women do not feel unattractive or undesirable. Most mature men do not think women their own age are repulsive.

I think running away from your problems would be in this case, a better solution. Obviously, staging his death as an accident is terribly stupid and only works in Hollywood, which is why people are suggesting it. 😛

but in any case, you should leave...do you have an education? Do you have anything at all? Any relatives? Get your mom to divorce the creep, or do something. Loafing around and bitching on a forum and painting this doom and gloom scenario is stupid and silly.

my dad was an alcoholic and a crack addict, who was in and out of jail for most of my young years, and then when i went to high school he went to the pen for manufacture and delivering methamphetamine.

even right now, when im 23 years old, he's in jail again...

but i've never blamed my father for destroying my life lol, it's not his fault i've fucked up like i have, it's no ones fault but my own.

Have any very large life insurance policies for your mother been purchased recently?...

If you can't make it look like an accident, hide the body VERY well, and if possible, in a way that incriminates someone else...

can someone ban this guy? He has no idea what real verbal and emotional abuse is like, since he himself admits his father was largely absent in his life, and yet he's sitting here like a douchebag, attempting to compare the two?
