I just called about a driving school, and it turns out there is one here. I am 28 years old, never even had my permit before, and I have decided its time for me to grow up and learn to drive. I am horrified of driving, but I have to get over this fear. Hopefully class will go well, and nobody will be dead when I am done. Stay off the roads if you live in NY, it could be dangerous out there for awhile. ;)

Good luck! And remember, the gas pedal is on the right, the break pedal is on the left.

LOL Roger, I can just picture it, windows down, wind blowing through my hair as I sit by the side of the road cursing because it broke down again. :p Actually, this is what I want. That way, I don't have to be responsible for anyone in the vehicle but me. :D

StormRider: At least I have one kind left, maybe I should hang on to that. ;) Thanks guys, and Tauren, you seriously would not believe how scared I am of confusing those two! I would be so embarrassed.

You'll do great, GF. Just remember that any person who applies themselves to learning can drive, it's totally overhyped. Like most people you'll probably find actual driving as easy as walking, and parking the hard thing. With practice you'll do great, just the same way you're great at everything else. :)

Woot, and they are adjustable for all ages! Thanks Roger, you are a big help, really. I owe you. ;)

Sully: You are a sweetie like usual, thank you. :)

Tauren: I don't envy my driving instructor one bit, poor guy. I bet he puts in for early retirement when I get in the car and ask which one is the gas again? :D

The link to the motercycle doesn't seem to be working for me.

You have 2 sets of http:// in your link. That looks like a cool motercycle. I found my test easy and the only points I lost were because I didn't look into those small neighborhood streets as I drove past. Of course, that was a test for a car. After college, I plan on getting a motercycle. I'm thinking along the lines of the Yamaha YZF600R for my first bike.

That looks like a sweet scooter. In fact, probably the sweetest scooter I've ever seen.

edit: Good luck!

Congrats on your decision GF!!! I know how you feel. I was terrified of learning how to drive. I didn't like being behind the wheel, it was very stressful, and I was very tense. I took the plunge and eventually got used to it, however, long trips still leave me a bit rattled.

Good luck! Remember, it's not you who is the bad driver, but everyone else on the road who is waco...so, KEEP YOUR HEAD MOVING, always looking for a way out of a bad situation.

Edit: I didn't get my driver's license until I was 17. I could fly a plane at 16!

GF, good luck, and tell us about it :)

I love the independence aspect of a person who can drive. You don't need to rely on anybody to bring you anywhere, and you don't need to rely on public transport too. Cool huh. I wish I could drive :D
