so i teach people how to drive on a part-time basis. i am going to be taking this asian lady out to drive on the main roads very soon. she says she has only 10 hours of driving in closed parking lots. luckily its late and there won't be many cars around, but still...scary stuff. i hope i come back in 1 piece.

by the way, she scheduled her driver's exam for tomorrow, thus the short notice. um, good luck with 0 hours of road experience

In all likelihood, she'll fail and attempt the test several times before getitng her license.

With any luck, she'll keep coming back to you for lessons.

well, i survived. scary sheit for sure. lady couldn't keep the car straight between two lanes at all times so i had to reach between her knees and lightly hold the steering wheel every so often. :awe: i couldn't get her to maintain speed, for example in a 45 zone she'd speed up to 45 and then it slowly dropped to 35... no concept whatsoever of keeping steady and not very spatially aware.

oh well, i am trying to talk her out of taking the test and going for more lessons either with me or a professional driving school.

FFFFFF, i wish they would toughen the requirements to get licenses in this country. the road test itself seems like a joke. oh well.

On a serious note she sounds like she's chinese or korean. I don't think native japanese-americans have this issue, only the other two. But if they're hypenated-english then chances are they can drive a bit more normal (not all tho).

Why does she want to get a license that fast anyway? She just turn 18?

Just give her a pass. As long as she drives a small car like a Suzuki Swift, she'll be the only one who dies in any crashes she causes.

All drivers turn into shit after they get their license anyway. Find 1 woman over the age of 50 who knows how to parallel park. You can't? Exactly.
