This thing is smaller than a magazine and about as thin as a Macbook air.

I saw one at Bestbuy this weekend, truely amazing and it has a dvd burner.

here is the size of it:
# Dimensions (WxDxH Front/H Rear): 10x7.8x0.9/1.2
# Weight: 2lbs 10.5oz actual

less than 3 pounds with the 7 hour batter.

wifi n, bluetooth, firewire, usb, lan, modem, dvdrw, mic, webcam, headphone, core2duo, solid state hard drive

truely a beast.

here is the review:

thick as a pack of cigarettes or 2nd gen ipod.

the width is shorter than a ruler.

the depth is less than 8 inches. Almost the entire side of it is the DVDrw door shield. heheh.

It's way overpriced.

A friend of mine bought one, and the guy above is right. That sucker will fry an egg on your lap.

Also he said it doesn't get anywhere near 7 hours battery life. More like 3:30 or 4 tops. I'm not sure exactly what he's using it for, probably more than just email and surfing though.

No problem. I'm just enforcing forum guidelines. That's what I get paid to do. Wait, nevermind, I don't get paid. 🙁

I think it is normal these days to not get "claimed" performance for certain things such as gas mileage, battery life and wireless range. A sad state of affairs, but true.

Tell your friend that at least he didn't buy a notebook with a "claimed" 3 hour battery life, because he'll then be at 1½.

sony's webiste says up to 7.5hours of usage on low-power profile

the 7 hour quote is not what they say, its what was actually done in the user review...

"Battery
Under normal use, backlight at 80 percent, Sony Optimized power profile set, and using wireless for web browsing, the TZ pulled off six hours and 43 minutes. I was hoping for more, as the preproduction model seemed to go more than seven hours, but it was still very good. Watching movies on the laptop got just less than four hours, meaning you could get through even the longest movies on a flight without a recharge.

Charging the battery took quite long compared to what I have been used to. More than five hours to get a complete charge was not out of the question, and two hours to get over 50 percent. Most other laptops will charge at a faster rate up to the 75-80 percent level, but the TZ had no such feature."
