Wisdom teeth...

Painless? Pill? IV? Bah...

The Navy required that wisdom teeth be removed while in school just to make certain that there are no problems in the future where they would be difficult to deal with (on a ship or sub). I was asked to bring a CD to the dentist. He started off by giving me about 15 shots in the mouth and letting me sit for a while. Then he started cutting and chopping them up (none of them were in yet) until I couldn't handle the pain anymore and I let him know. He gave me another 10 shots or so and let me sit for a while. Then started up again. The pain was a little more bearable this time. It took about an hour and a half to my recollection (CD ended a while before it was over). I was numb for most of the rest of the day from all the shots I got (that took forever to work)...

All three applied to me. Two were coming in and pushing my other teeth together. One came in completely crooked and would have only caused problems, and the 4th on I actually used when biting down, so the left it in.
 
I had both of my bottoms taken out because they were coming out at a ~45 degree angle, pushing against the other teeth. The top two were taken out because if I used them to eat, there would be nothing but gum on the bottom to chew against.

anyone have any *good* things to say about dentists in the armed forces? i dont think ive heard anything but bad stories so far.
