Hmmm... just got back from the dentist. Yes, as you probably already know, i had my wisdom teeth taken out. And yes, I'm still numb. Apparently, not numb enough since I have this dull ache around my entire jaw and I can feel the swelling already. Damn you, dentists. WHy didn't you knock me out? why? Anyway, its going to be pretty much baby food for me for a couple of days.

I was a wimp, lol, I couldn't eat solid food for a week. But I didn't need the pain meds, does that make me a bit less wimpy??? :p

Feel better soon Kelvrick! :)

Thanks for the support. Well, since there are people actually reading this, I'll go into detail. Apparently, I have more teeth then I have room for in my mouth, so then my bottom right one was shoved into a sideways position. The rest came out pretty smoothly, and I took it like a man. But, they got to this one and they had to drill through the tooth next to it, then dig underneath the tooth and then try to pull it out sideways. After 2 hours or so of this, I'm just tired and I just lay there and twitch when they hit something they shouldn't have.

Amish, guess it depends on your dentist. My brother had almost no swelling and my mom had a bunch of swelling. Hopefully, I chose the right dentist...

Yeah. It depends on the person too.

The same dentist took out my sister's and she was in bed for a week. :)

Do NOT, and I repeat do NOT let yourself get dry socket. It's not fun at all. Follow their directions to the letter, no straws or anything of that nature that creates a vacuum in your mouth. It's easy to forget, I went into a McDonald's KNOWING that I couldn't use a straw, got my drink, & instinct took over. Next thing I know I'm sitting there sucking on a straw.

D'oh!

Why don't they knock you out? That's so you don't die. There?s a chance of you dying when you go under. Your dentist didn't do a good job numbing your jaw area enough. When I got mine taken out, I got all four taken out. If I felt ANY slight little itty bitty pain, I raised my hand and asked him to inject that bad boy again. I came home and was numb pretty much till I fell asleep. No swelling for me, I didn't even need to take the swelling medications they gave me. They also gave me two types of pain medication. Can't recall the name but it was for slight pain. My second medication was that pain killer that all the movie stars get addicted to and drink alcohol with (can't think of the name).

Well long story made short, you're going to miss eating them steaks, or whatever foods you eat normally. I wanted to eat real food so badly. My dad made me eat tofu, soup, and other really soft things.

I found the worst part was the bleeding for a while afterwards... but I recovered quickly, no swelling. I also spilled a lot of drinks down my shirt because I couldn't feel my tongue, so half the time I didn't know it was inside the glass instead of under it.. :p

oh yeah, I got an IV in my arm to knock me out. Worked like a charm, I was gone in 10 seconds. Then they froze my gums. When I woke up, I didn't know anything had happened. There was a hottie next to me who was still knocked out, but had finished surgery. I just stared in that direction for a while until I told them I was ready to go. :)

I had mine removed, but they actually had to take out 1 inch of my jaw bone. It seems I had one of my teeth impacted into the bone. They gave me Verset or Demerial (sp?) and I didnt feel/remember/care/think/hear/want/need anything.. Hehe I went hoem and played tribes. I my surgery was performed by a facial surgeon though, because of my one impacted tooth.
But damn that verset or whatever it was kiked arse/

Hope this doesn't turn into a flame fest. I was just saying that there is a chance that it can happen. That was the exact reason the doctor told me. I asked him if they could put me under but the assistant said they don't do that due to the fact that you can die.
