Wisdom teeth removed at 24...

I am finally going to go ahead and pull all four wisdom teeth out. The situation is I will be working for a new employer this Monday - which offers a divvy of benefits. I never bothered to get health/dental while working for myself due to being under my dad's insurance policy. Now that I'm off of it, I need to choose what plans I want to enroll in at the new workplace. I'm looking through my benefits summary and it doesn't exactly state where wisdom teeth oral surgery falls under. Would it be part of my health insurance, dental insurance or neither?

Cliffs:

#1. Need 4 wisdom teeth removed.
#2. Going to work for a new company, and will enroll in plans.
#3. Which plan to enroll will depend on if wisdom teeth removal is covered or not.
#4. Advice from ATOT, profit?!?

I realize that, but if you are put to sleep, it's considered surgery and that would be under health... especially if the teeth are impacted.

You are correct Azurik. In my experience and knowledge, it will be covered by your health plan.

I had mine removed a few months ago, it was paid with through my dental insurance. I had to pay for the anesthesia though (my health insurance denied it...I was told that I should have 'fought' with my ins company as they are liable to pay for it, but it was only like $200 and i'm lazy so I let it go).

*edit* plus my dental insurance didn't cover it in full...I think they only paid like 70% or 80% of the other costs...

I just had mine done a couple weeks ago (under general anasthetic.) It went on my dental insurance and they covered 80%. Cost me about $250 out-of-pocket.

If you're just starting, make sure you figure out when the insurance kicks in.
