sorry forgot to mention about keeping the pressure in place. Sounds like you have it covered already!

my friend had his removed a couple days ago (all 4). Everything went well with the procedure, I think it took about a half hour. The swelling still hasn't gone down, his face looks like he has a golf ball stuck in each of his cheeks.

ATOT is so strange.. I had mine out last wed..

I was in there for a total of 30 mins, and apparently when I woke up (I had an IV) I looked the Dentist dead in the eye and said

"THere better not be any mother fv'n cotton in my underwear" and then proceded to tell the nurse that I was pretty high & it was all cool & stuff.

Doing well, her jaw is very swollen today (2nd day in) after settling down last night. She's managed to not use any Tylenol 3 and stick through it, she has a very upset stomach so that stuff would not be fun. Tough girl. No signs of infection or anything bad at this point.

DO NOT drink with a straw after having your wisdom teeth removed...you don't want to create suction in your mouth and dislodge your blood clots over and over. Let it heal first!

Drink nothing but water the first day, papaya juice is good for the next couple...

The procedure itself was only about 20 minutes for me. I had to get all four out, and just in time: one of them was coming in sideways :Q I did it under local anesthesia, which is kinda interesting, but not a good idea if you're squeamish. You're a mess when you finish though...your entire jaw area is numb and it feels like your tongue is the size of a watermelon. Not to mention you get REAL sick of the taste of blood those first couple days.

Why in the world didn't you tell them to stop and you'd have to reschedule or something?

I was also on Vicoden for my back injury and he was to put me asleep but I was not reacting to the knock out juice and was awake for the entire procedure. THAT SUCKED! He shot me with everything he could by law and I wouldnt go under then I told him the hell with it go do it and 2 of them cracked (which I heard and felt) and he just kept saying he was sorry to me and said he felt bad for me. When he was done the people before me were still under and sleeping it off while I walked out the door with my wife and I drove home. But even going through all of that it took about a week before I could even think of solid food to chew. procedure took maybe half hour to pull it all. Wish I was asleep. Worst prart was the pressure that comes when he pulls on them and when the two cracked the knowing and hearing them crack, scraping the parts out of the hole, was the worst part. If I had been under it wouldnt of been suck a big thing at all.

Took me less than 5 mins for mine after I'd been numbed out (which took another 5-10 mins of novacaine plus waiting). Of course, mine was already all of the way out, so they just pried it out of my head. If they have to do the drill or clamp bit, it could take more like 30 mins.

And if you've got one sideways (which I do, probably getting it out in the summer), you go under general anthesia, and they remove part of your jaw to get at the tooth, which they procede to crack in half while its still inside your head. It takes a while.

I had myself worked up to get it done. I was on the drugs and didnt know when I was getting off of them and 2 were hurting really bad so I went though with it. It wasnt really all that bad but the noise, pressure, and hearing them crack wih him digging away was the worst. The pain was nothing compaired to that.

I had mine taken out during Basic Training in the Army.

They shot me full of Novocaine, ripped them out, (two had to be cut out) stitched me up and sent me back to the barracks.

I had the rest of the afternoon off, some Tylenol for the pain (enough for three days) and 5 extra minutes to eat each meal for three days.

Stop whining.

Mine was super easy. Took 15 mins for all three (I have only 3). No pain, just lots of numbness afterwards from the novocaine. The tooth doc was good, real good. I'd totally recommend him to anybody. On a previous teeth extraction procedure by a different doc, the sob was brutal, got me bleeding like a freaking vampire after feeding.

Hell, I'm really not looking forward to having mine out now. One's coming through at a 45 degree angle, too :( :(

I recently (about 6 weeks ago) had all four of my wisdom teeth cut out. All four of them were impacted :( I went to an oral surgeon which did a great job of keeping me calm up until the time of the surgery. I have to admit though, the few days leading up to the surgery I was scared as a little girl. The dentist put a mask over my nose to begin the operation and told me to breathe in deep, slow controlled breaths. Nitrous oxide does wonders for calming you down:p WHile I continued to breath in the nitrous, the nurses hooked me up to a couple of machines that monitor your heart rate, oxygen level, and a few other things. Once I was all hooked up the dentist inserted the IV in my arm and told me It would not be long before I would start feeling sleepy. Well being the rouge person I am, I tried to fight it off. I thought that maybe for some reason I was a freak of Nature :p Needless to say, last thing I remember was the dentist putting a big rubber thing in my mouth to keep it open during the operation. Next thing I know i am waking up and the operation was done. The only slight rememberance I have is me moving cause the dentsit must have pulled really hard on one.

The first few hours after the operation are the hardest. The constant having to switch out the gauze in your mouth is kind of a hassle but altogether the procedure went much better than I could have ever imagined. I would definetly recommend getting put to sleep to have your wisdom teeth taken out if that option is available to you. Make sure that you do not, under any circumstances suck through a straw, smoke, or rinse your mouth for 48-72 hours after the operation. Other than that, just try to stay calm. I mean the people that are doing these procedures went to school for 12yrs+. Hope this helps.
