Hello all. I'm having all of my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow, at the nice price of $1900. I've been looking around the web to see how badly I'm getting ripped off (even if that's the going rate, it's still a rip!) and can't find a price reference ANYWHERE. Anyone know about how much this prodedure usually goes?

-Chu, soon to be in great pain . . .

I don't think you are getting ripped off. I think we paid somewhere around that neighborhood as well. Well not we, my parents, for me.

I do not know why it cost that much...

My ex-girlfriend did it for $60 a tooth or for all 4 (I can't rmemeber) and she has no insurance. They didn't put her under the gas and she just paid the money and left.

Look Around!

I have insurance and they charge me $110 for a tooth I think. I didn't get them removed because they were not impacting.

Also there are a lot of dental schools that will do it for hardly nothing (they have a real dentist helping them).. should look into that.

Insurance company paid $1200 for my removal (four teeth, got put under for the procedure).

I wouldn't really care to do much bargain-hunting for something like that, though. Just so long as they do it right...

Sigh . . . looking at the huge range of prices people are posting here, something is seriously wrong with the way the medical industry works here :( I remember the last time I had to get X-Rays. Even though I am not insured, they could not tell me how much it would cost until after they were taken :|

I think it was about $2000 CDN for 4 teeth removed when I had mine done. Thank goodness my father's insurnace at the time paid for all of it.

My parents' insurance paid about $1600 to have my four wisdom teeth removed. Two were poking through the gums, but two were not yet. Also, I was given twilight anesthesia as well.

2 of my lower ones were impacted and turned 90deg sideway, the top 2 came out fine, but the doc wanted to take all 4 out, paid 200$ for the upper ones because insurance wouldn't cover that, my insurance paid the rest. I think the doc charged the insurance co. $300ish for each of the impacted tooth + another $50-100 for anesthesia.

i think mine was exactly $1k for all 4 removed. They were all grown in too, so i was especially pissed when the dentist said I needed them taken out after I went through the painful process of all 4 coming in.

the operation lasted a whole of 30 minutes, so I was especially surprised when my mom told me how much it cost. Fortunately our insurance paid for almost all of it.

Ask BentValve. I hear he will do it for nothing using only common household tools.

It was like $1200 for my bottom two to come out, so consider yourself luck that you are getting all four for $1800 :)
Of course my insurance picke dup everything but $25 so i cant complain.

Plus it was one of the best things I ever had done when it came to my teeth, getting rid of them made my life ALLOT easier...

you need an oral surgeon, not just a dentist. I guess a dentist can do it too, but if you want it done right, goto a surgeon. mine was awesome, I was in and out in 15mins, no pain at all, and I was able to go back to work the next day.

Depends on the mouth, but usually they push foward as they grow out and smoosh all the other teeth together. This not only hurt like a sumamabeetch but makes your teeth look like a derailed amtrack. In a real bad scenerio, the top ones can push against the bottom ones and misalign your jaw, or cause them to grow in crooked and poking through your gums. If you have regular visits to the denist, this is usually the reason they take an x-ray every time when you are in your teens, to make sure they are either coming in just fine, or to make know when its time to take them out.

I've been lucky so far, but my brother wasn't. He had to have his removed right as they were breaking the surface of his gums, which means they had to do a hell of a lot of cutting to get them out :-x He had cotton in his mouth for two days straight and wasn't supposed to swallow his saliva because there was too much blood content for a day.
