Just wondering. I'm not in utter pain, the advil/perscription works pretty well, difficult to eat... but it's ok. But overnight.. when the medication wears off.. i wake up at like 4am... pain..... not HUGE amounts of pain, but JUST enough so it makes it hard to sleep.

Well, mainly, just wondering how long until things were relatively normal for you (been 4 days for me now).

Oh, all four of mine were taken... :(

I got lucky. I was in no pain at all. My dentist said he was expecting some problems, but was really happy when all teeth came out problem free.

i know pain is different for dif ppl, just wanted to see how other ppl responded to it.

BTW, it's no fun to have to get braces twice.. especially when the second time round is in college :(

I still have my wisdom teeth. It's not affecting the alignment of my teeth in any way so I am keeping it. The dentist said I should take it out anyways but for what? So I can be in pain and pay the dentist for doing the procedure? Anyone else able to keep theirs?

I was only in "pain" for a day or so. And it wasn't even that bad, a few hours after the surgery it was just a dull pain, not bad at all, easily tolerable.

yeah, tolerable pain, i was never in any pain that i felt like i was going to go nuts or anything..

Damn, braces from 29-32.. yes, gotta give her credit fer that.

Suing will require money, and in the end, probably won't get jack after the lawyers... and i dunno what can be done. I mean, they seemed ok, but he only kept me on a retainer for so long, and took me off it way too early.

Shoot, in the recovery room after getting my wisdom teeth taken out I was talkin so much the dentist told me to be quiet. I was eating ham sandwiches two days later, pizza on the third day. Not much pain, but quite a bit of blood.

I was sitting in my living room the day I got em taken out, couldn't feel my mouth very well, so blood was dripping on my undershirt (I had the sense to take off my normal shirt). Two of my female friends decided to come visit, not knowing I had my wisdom teeth taken out that day. I just casually went to the door and started talkin to them, cotton in my mouth, blood on my shirt. Prolly freaked them out.

Mine are coming in right now, and they be hurting. They hurt this summer and I saw the dentist; he told me that I should get them out, but what does he know, eh?:) The pain went away magically, but now, 4 mos. later, is back and in full effect. Luckily mom gave me some old codeine's and that's been holding me over... If it gets any worse I'll have to go get'em yanked, I guess. I don't want to, I want it to just go away again... We'll see!

my bottom ones were growing horizontally :) they looked funny in the x-ray. But yeah, my mouth was numb for about 6hrs after the surgery... and i was eatin (swollowing) ice cream... i had NO idea it was dripping down my chin.. i look down at my shirt like 10 minutes later and there's a bunch of chocolate ice cream on it... in the mirror, is a little trail of ice cream on my chin.. heh

I had pretty regular food yesterday, but my mouth got sooo tired from chewing oh very carefully.

I need to get my wisdom tooth taking out too, and I think it's growing a little sideways. How hard would that be to pull?? Will they need to take out the molars too if its in the way? I hope not. I should have taken it out a year ago ...

Well after I broke my foot, my wisdom teeth were nothing.
I was done with them after 2 days. I was on some painkillers though.

a few of mine were growing in sideways when i got them taken out. i didn't feel a thing cuz they knocked me out completely. i had an IV and everything. I don't remember anything that happened after he stuck the needle in my arm.

i was in no pain. which was sooo freaky. but i caught a nasty case of bronchitis the day of or the day after i got them pulled out, so i was running fevers of around 103 and coughing and sniffling. man my mom had so much fun taking care of me. :) and as a college student who had her room taken away when she left, i got to kick my sister out of her room for a few days. :) ;)

I was in pain for a few hours after. Not really in pain, since I was sort of knocked out by the pain killers. It wasn't too bad, but not something I'd care to repeat. ;)

I still have my wisdom teeth after 30 years. They gave me some pain for about a week at a time (maybe 6-8 times total) over the course of about a year and a half. The worst was when two decided to cause problems at the same time.

All of my wisdom teeth seemed to want to come up underneath the last half of my rear molars. Which really sucked. What was even worse was that I was wearing braces at the time. :(

I had one side done at a time. Right side, top and bottom first. I don't know how many shots my dentist gave me, but it was a lot. I felt them being taken out on the other side of my jaw because of the tension on the wires. One of the teeth even broke in half while he was taking them out.

That day, I was eating (drinking?) a vanilla shake. The next, normal food. The week after I had the final pair done, I went to the orthodontist (a friend of the dentist) to get the wires tightened.

I hate dentistry. :| :D A lot of blood, a lot of pain at the time, but I was fine the next day, other than a bit of blood spots.

basara318: There are places that do it for free cause they doin research (NIH). Probably would have done that, but insurance supposedly covers most... but with that, they usually have you come back a few more times to ask you stuff.

Whe I got my wisdom teeth out, it was about 2 weeks before exams (gr 10, no biggie). I was IV'd, and then given some form of penecillin to avoid any infections. It didn't hurt too badly after about three days or so, and there was a dull ache for another 5 days after that.
The odd thing about it for me was the fact that I had some allergic reaction to the penecillin afer two weeks. The day of my exams, I broke out in a horrible rash. It didn't feel weird, not itchy or anything, but looked a hell of a lot like German Measles. Needless to say, the school recommended that I stay home and skip my exams.

;) I had to take my Chem exam 2 weeks later, but didn't even have to bother with my Socials exam. The teacher just gave me 95% since that's what he expected me to get based on my history in the class. :p

I just had one pulled but I was never really hurting and was good to go after a week.

I actually thought it was pretty funny because I could hear the dentist jerking on it to get it out but I couldnt' feel a thing.
