i just had my 4 wisdom teeth removed, it's been about a week now. everything seems fine now, except i have the huge sockets where food keep getting stuck where my bottom teeth were.

i'm not sure how much i like the idea of having food just sitting there forever, but apparently i'm not supposed to pick or pry or anything to clean it out. rinsing doesn't do anything since the holes are too deep. anyone got any ideas? i'm going insane, feeling the urge to pull the Dust-Off from the shelf and spray that crap out ;) i need a high powered water-spray thing like they have at the dentist.

god i hope they close up soon

Give it time, it wont happen suddenly, but in a month or so they should heal over. It takes a good 6 months for complete healing and settling of the gum and bone. Dont feel too bad, I just had 6 molars removed, in the process of getting dentures. Only 15 to go.. LOL :)

Ask your dentist for a plastic syringe for irrigation. That's what they gave me when I had mine out.

I know I wasn't supposed to, but I used a toothpick to get it out. I didn't want that crap just sitting there.

Like Sophia said, ask for a plastic syringe for squirting water in the gaps. And make sure you get some antibiotics...I had some prescribed but quit taking them after a few days...then last week (1 month after I had them removed) the bottom right side got infected, BAD. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever had happen to me. Didn't hurt a bit, but pus was just oozing out of the hole any time I put the smallest amount of pressure on my cheek. So keep it washed out and take some 'cilin.

Plastic syringe is your best friend. If you don't have one, go back and demand one.

The hole where my molar used to be bled for the whole 24hrs before the blood got thick enough (and the blood pressure dropped in the morning) befor it finally stopped. Two more molars, one on each bottom side, are sitting flat horizontally and one is starting to move and want to come out. :frown:

the recovery process is by far worse than the operation... my blood was gushing on those gauze pads for almost 48 hrs before i could start eating anything much.

i had all 4 taken out at once so i won't have to go through that again though.
