Crap. I woke up in some serious pain. Had to pop 2 more perc, and now I only have 3 left!

I woke up with that nasty morning film in my mouth that's normally easy to either spit out or brush out, but since I don't have full access to my mouth, I don't know what I'm going to do.

My cheeks are still very puffy, and I'm still unable to fully open or fully close my mouth. Is this normal?

What are my chances of my dentist giving me a refill of painkillers?

You don't believe in thread consolidation, do you?

Did you use ice the first day?

You can probably get a refill, call them & ask.

Are you supposed to take two at once? My vicoden said to only take one, and that increasing the dosage could cause difficulty breathing.

The dentist will probably refill it, but he'll want to see you first. Day 3 is when dry socket rears its ugly head sometimes.

Keep warm compresses on your face for the swelling. Try popsickles too.

Were they impacted? My wisdom teeth had stopped hurting the day after the surgery.

One of them was impacted, and that's the only one that really still hurts.

My dentist said taking 2 percs if needed would be fine.

I had my bottom two wisdom teeth pulled both were impacted, it didn't really hurt too much after the surgery, i would just feel a dull ache on the back of my jaw and I would just take one codene pill and it would be fine for the rest of the day. You should try taking a tylenol if you run out of your current pain killer

You shouldnt need painkillers anymore, unless you are a sissy extraordinaire, that u even need pain killers for the slight discomfort u might feel. Or u should immediately visit your denstist because if u still have (serious) pain something is wrong...

I had pain (not pain that I would describe as slight discomfort) in my mouth for about a week after the surgery (mine were not impacted). Suddenly, one day, it just felt better. I came through without dry sockets.

After the first day or two I switched off to an over the counter painkiller, can't remember what I used right now though.

Couldn't fully open my mouth for 4-5 days, IIRC

If you hadn't said one was impacted I would think you are the biggest baby alive. I don't know how much impacted wisdom teeth hurts, but I bet I still have a full bottle of pain killers from when I got 4 wisdom teeth taken out when I was 15 or so.

Impacted means they are either sideways or growing in a direction that does not allow standard extraction. They usually have to be shattered in the gum and the peices removed.

I ain't no baby, but the impacted one is pretty much the only one that still hurts. I throw in 2 percs, and the sucker feels fine. This is the tooth that when they were removing, I could hear the bone cracking and everything. Not fun.

I just wanted to make sure not being able to fully close/open my mouth was normal for Day 3.

It's normal if (like mine), your lower roots were in or near the main nerve of your jaw. I had trouble for weeks. Hell my upper roots were embedded on the floor of my sinus cavity, so I was on pills for quite a while.

I'd just like to point out that everyone is different, and that if the pain you felt could be classified as "slight discomfort" when you had your wisdom teeth taken out, more power to you. However, just because you were fine doesn't mean everyone else is going to be fine too :)
