And I know it's really popular to bitch and moan about how much our elected Representatives make, like the guy this thread was initially about.

I haven't bitched about it at all, but it's really unseemly to claim life is tough when making 3X the median family income while ideologically supporting the beatdown of people making a lot less. The guy sucks as do his fellow travelers in the Right Wing traveling greed fest.

Following the same sentiment (it's not reasoning) neither do you, and you're mostly lucky to have it as good as you do. Feel free to dial in as much smug self aggrandizement as you need to feel special, OK?

I'm not lucky. My parents set me up for success and I worked hard at everything I've done.

Nice contradiction, "My parents set me up for success", Not everybody has that advantage to start with. You were lucky.

Parents that have children in wedlock, raised by a mother and father and teach good values and decisions is considered lucky?

Lemme guess, you think the government should provide that? Or that there shouldn't be consequences to having children out of wedlock or single parents? Decisions and choices have consequences, luck has nothing to do with it.

As a liberal, I think the government should subsidize abortions. That way it increases the odds that babies are raised in the correct 2 parent environment :)

And yes it is an advantage to have parents who are not retards.

No, I don't think the government should provide it. But to say it's not an advantage, could only come from a fool.

spidey: where yo daddy at?
person: he died when I was 5
spidey: if he's so smart why is he dead LOLOLOL

Funny how you guys twisted his words to being all single parent households.

How high of a percentage do you think that one parent died causing the singe parent household?

How many due to divorce?

How many due to the father not living up to his responsibility?

How many of the single parent households have multiple children from multiple fathers (that aren't involved with their offspring)?

How many from fathers only identifiable by vague descriptions?

Both Sean and his current wife of twelve years are former MTV Real World alumni. Though something does not compute: six kids + mom + dad equals eight. Perhaps it's time for him to get a job in the private sector (an appearance on another MTV show,) or maybe invest in better birth control?

I think we should pay our government representatives a lot more than we do. You actually do get what you pay for. Particularly if you do not want just rich people in government.

I agree, they should be paid according to their responsibility. In Ancient Greece politicians weren't paid, and as a result the only people who could be politicians were the rich. I don't think that's what we want.

Not lucky, in wingutlandia he is a "self made man" :awe:

It's possible that maybe Nebor recognizes his own glaring contradictions, use that to take a little closer look at what he believes. Probably not- it takes a kind of courage many Righties lack entirely. Spidey? Don't make me laugh. He's practically a parody of himself.

Bull fucking shit. Let's talk TOTAL COMPENSATION, because that's how we work in the real world. Look, you are paid so little because that's the career you choose and it's you own damn fault. If you want to make more then change direction. I made what you're making 20 years ago moving furniture, yeah, it's what we call HARD WORK.

And quite frankly your attitude about public servants is very offensive to me. Very offensive. In the real world if you don't like it you find another job, but somehow you feel entitled to MY FUCKING MONEY.

You are not entitled to a job or a standard of living. That's MY MONEY. I guess you missed all the data that says public sector employees, in terms of total compensation, make much more than their private sector counterparts.

Grow up and take your future and compensation in your own hands instead of whining.

Nothing wrong with hard work but you're fooling yourself if you think it make you rich. The hardest work is actually done by people who's wage is minimal. I only work 2-4 hours a day and make more than ever, used to work 12 no problem and made less. In reality, success in the market is about market position. It isn’t about what you do, but about what you control. Who do you think worked harder guy who owns moving company or coolies trucking refrigerators around? Lets say they work same hardness who makes more? All people are asking when they want good wages and whatnot is more control and improve their market position.

Not sure I follow you. Are you saying that a majority of single parent homes are because of a parent dying?

That would seem like a minor percentage of what is really going on out there---single parent homes because the parents are fuck-ups for some reason or another. There's no excuse for father not living up to his responsibility, divorce or multiple children from multiple fathers. The parents fucked up and need to take care of their kids.

But let's make excuses for everyone by saying those that have two parents (man/wife, two men, two women, I don't care) are lucky. Society let this happen. Was the divorce rate as high years ago? Were there more or less families with multiple fathers?

It shouldn't be considered lucky. It should be considered the norm.

When has freaking number of kids been a basis for a salary?

$174k is a major salary in almost all professions.

The problem is our leaders never want to take the cuts themselves.

This is reflected majorly in the latest Forbes reports that while the nation's wealthiest were crying they needed to cut wages and staff, their NET WORTH grew by one TRILLION dollars shared among 2000 or so of them.

That is insane.
