I saw it on the news a few days ago. I'm surprised it wasn't big news. I also found out that Wisconsin is the only state where your first offense DWI is only a ticket. No jail time, no nothing. You just call someone and they come and pick you up. I think she got a $700 fine and thats it. What a crock.

She's been all over the news here. (SE Wisconsin) It seems that lately, politicians in WI are fighting to see who can tank their careers that fastest.

A crock? Do you realize that DWI's are really not the problem they are implied to be?

There is an extremely minor amount of accidents caused by this, yet so much money is invested (and made) off the 'cause'.

The biggest problem is the 'line in the sand' and testing method....both are terribly inaccurate measures of one's ability or lack thereof.

It has been said that everyone has been guilty of DWI/DUI if they drink even semi-regularly.

One of the state supreme court justices in Washington got convicted of a DUI a couple months ago; I think she got a ticket for it. I can't say I disagree with it; if she needs help, she needs to get help, just like every other person. There's never an excuse for drunk driving, but getting treatment should be the first priority.

It may have been a minor accident, BUT its not a minor event. The Attorney General either 1) knowingly broke the law, or 2) excerised extremely poor judgement. Regardless of the validity of the DUI laws, she should of known better. I appreciate your willingness to look at the other side, but I don't agree with you at all.

She got the punishment anyone else would have I also found out that Wisconsin is the only state where your first offense DWI is only a ticket. No jail time, no nothing.

You idiots really really need to look into non-MADD/SADD information on what DUI/DWI really is about, the testing methodology and how much money it makes vs. how much money it costs.

The truth is most DUI arrests are non-incidental, not even someone weaving in and out of traffic and all the sensationalism the MADD/SADD shows portray. However the MADD/SADD lobby has made themselves a monster in politics, pushing mostly non-related issues through.

The testing method is to test you breath to determine blood alcohol level....some people have more 'blood' than others in their respiration. Any mouth bleeding will greatly affect this, including ulcers.

Then you have the level of 'drunkeness'. Let's say it's 0.08....now some will be more impaired and some will be not even impaired slightly. It's a piss-poor test.

Now consider # of injury accidents / fatalities everyday and how many DUI/DWI related ones there are....out of this nearly insignificant group how many did the impairment really cause the accident?

You are all brainwashed that think otherwise. That is your right to be a puppet.

I am not saying driving drunk is the proper thing to do, I am saying for many that were arrested for it there was no 'drunkeness' going on.

I actually had drinks with her and the Assistant AG back in September at one of the bars on State St. Seemed like nice enough people and they were buying most of the night. I think I spent $15 that night, compared to my normal $50 bar outing.

Got her to try her first Irish Car Bomb, good times were had by all. Just too bad she had to go and do something like this, it sounds like she was pretty impaired from the description. Doing 30 in a 60 zone, coming to a near stop while passing the cop, etc.

Whats ironic is that article in the JSO doesnt mention the fact that she also took muscle relaxants earlier in the day. At least that was the story on local talk radio and the evening news.

Shes not only dumb for drinking and driving, but to take muscle relaxants, AND drink and drive is just moronic IMHO.

Shes a public figure and official, she has to be aware that she is being upheld to very strict public criticism in her position. Shes a moron plain and simple.

Kudos to the Dane county sheriff who had the balls to actually book her and not jsut sweep it under the rug. Thats like arresting your boss.

HA!

Man, that's awesome. That makes me want to drive drunk in Wisconsin just so I can say I got a dewey, without losing my license.

I know it's supposed to get to ~53 on Saturday in Chicago, but I'm planning on being in Waukesha on Saturday, and hadn't checked the weather there yet. It's nice to know it'll be nice there, too.
