Wiring up a eject button on Apex DVD drive

Ok I had a DVD player die on me(Apex) its a AD-500W model. Well I took the drive out and hooked it to my PC to see if it would detect it and it did. Only problem is I have to take the top cover of it off and put the CD in then restart the PC before it detects the CD. It works good on the PC though but I would like to rig a eject button to it if possible. The way it was setup is the the decoder was sending the eject signal through the IDE cable. Does anyone have any idea which wires on the IDE cable would be the eject? Or which points I can solder a switch to on the DVD-Drive.

Thanks

You can eject from the OS, just right click on the drive name and select eject.
I am not sure which ide pin is for eject. But if you do it, don't hook up the button directly to the pin. You need a debouncer so you don't have many up and down transitions.

heck if it lets me eject from windows I am happy. I didnt think nothing about that because I never needed to use it. I'll see if that works.

Thanks

hereis an ide pinout
ide

what pin will is eject?

-interesting aside: I see at least 3 address leads-so, shouldn't we be able to have more than just a master and slave?
