I got in on one of those ecobee 4 deals and finally getting around to installing this bad boy.. Except its not working. This is my 4th ecobee/nest devices, I have 3 already in place and they dont use the same wiring as this boiler for some reason. Thanks in advanced!

Old thermostat is just 2 wire, r & w, theres a third wire in the back I ran it to C

R red from thermostat is connected to Y in the block and W is connected to W. I added C to the bottom (green wire not shown), so the eco bee is not even powering up. Even with the common wire. I ordered an external 24v in case this C isn't producing 24v. Whats weird is this boiler uses Y, I guess I'm not a plumber so I wouldnt know.. my last 3 were straight forward, r to r and w to w, c to c and everything worked. I have email ecobee but they're a bit slow in replying..

Y is cooling. Wire it to R and W. R connected to W turnes on heat and R connected to Y turnes on AC. No idea how the old one worked wired like that. W connected to Y should do nothing. The thermostat is just a fancy set of relays.

Doesnt work. I tried R &W on it.. didn't do anything. Weils has weird wiring, i have 2 different models of weils and the other one, CGA works on R & W, there is no cooling on this boiler. Its straight heating only

I got word back from ecobee, they say i should try Y & G, according to schematics, thats where the thermostat should be, but not sure why regular thermostat was hook on Y & W. Ill have to try tonight, ill get voltage tonight too

G is the fan/blower control signal. W is the signal for heat and & Y is for cooling.

Seems companies can choose whatever letter they want to use. Weils email me back, they say I needed the external 24v no matter what.. plug that in with the default setting of R->Y and W->W and it works.

Yes this has been my experience as well. There is no standard when it comes to wiring thermostats to HVAC units. The company that manufactures them decides what wires are needed and what terminals they attach to.
It is unfortunate that it is this way because a set standard would benefit everyone.

yeah, i just went to the freezing attic and ran a new C wire. Originally I had nest on AC, in the process of swapping to ecobee. With AC & heat, they call it dual transformer and I can't use the 24v adapter. Ecobee instructions says the C has to come from cooling, I was hoping i can supply that from the heat side.. but nope. Now i have a spare 24v power. At lease its all working now.

adapter/is good tone is working. Eecobee.JPG
