Netowrking is NOT my forte! ANyways. Just ordered a wirelss router..Dlink 4300. I need to get my wife on the interent upstairs. I would like to use my CPU as a wired setup, since the router is right here anyways. Is this possible? It looks like the unit has 4 ethernet connections on the back..so can it be used as a wired as well? I also ASSUME lol that the router will come with all I need for 1 CPU setup? Is this the case? The antennas must go on the networked cpu, but does it plug into an ehternet port or do I need a card? I've been internet searching but I'd rather get a direct answer!
Thanks

You can use wireless and wired at the same time.

You'll need some kind of wireless device in your wife's computer.

Other than that, I'm not sure what you're asking. 😛

Her laptop is a Dell which I beleive has a Dell 10/100 wirelss card. I wanted to be sure I could use my computer in a direct connect as well as using the wireless ability for my wife's upstairs.

If you want to plug a computer with wire it needs wire Internet card.

Wireless connetion needs Wireless Network card.

The Router needs a Cat5e wire to be plugged to the Modem.

A wire computer needs a wire to be plugged to the Router.

Most New Router come with one wire.

All Router can work with many Wired and Wireless computers (in most cases as many as 256).
