I just aquired a Netgear wireless router that is also a print server and firewall. I wont have broadband for a while but was wondering if there is a way to set this up so I can at least just do simple file sharing through the wireless. I hooked the unit up to my PC last night but was unable to get into it with it's IP address. Does it have to be hooked up to DSL or cable before it will even work? Thanks.

No, it shouldn't matter if it is hooked up to DSL/Cable or not. You said you couldn't get into it by IP and am wondering if you have your desktop IP set to the same subnet as the router?

I did not have my IP set to anything at the time. I will play around with it a little bit more tonight.

Well I did not have the DNS set to my routers IP address. Did that set IP to DHCP and did an ipconfig / release ipconfig /renew and bingo bango I'm in. Was able to configure the router! i am off to look for a deal on a wireless nic to get my other PC set up. Thanks.
