Wireless

Is there a setting to make it so that Windows overrides any 3rd party wireless software, and uses the built in windows wireless settings instead? I could have sworn there was, but I can't seem to find it.

My sister's card won't install the drivers without its own software, which isn't working correctly. This would be a simple fix.

I'm not in front of a wireless enabled computer and I can't remember exactly where the setting is but... Try opening Network Connections, get the properties of the wireless connection, then look somewhere in there. It may be under advanced options but I can't remember. I know it's easy to overlook though. Whenever I need to change it, I can never seem to find the correct box. It'll be a check box that you're looking for. Sorry I can't be more specific.

I am pretty sure that you just have to go to the advanced setting in the place where you can view networks in windows (except that you cannot right now because some other software is doing that for you) and then click the advanced tab at the top, and the first box right below the top should be "let windows configure my wireless networks" or something.

Good luck.

If you want to install the driver WITHOUT the crappy wireless software.

Uninstall the wireless software.
Reboot
Go to device manager
Select the Wireless adapter
Right click and go to Update Driver
Then when it asks you for the location for the driver just point the search to the CD or where ever the driver files are located. Windows will then install the driver without the control software... done and windows will be in charge of the connection device.

The setting you are looking for is under " Network Connections" right click on the wireless connection and select Properties, then the Wireless Networks tab. The top check block is " use Windows to configure my wireless network settings ". Select that and click OK... Done.
