Wireless & Wired Network

My cable connection is in my roommates room, and thus, the Microsoft Wireless Basestation (MN-500) is there. I'm connected wirelessly via a D-link network card. Here's the problem: I would like to be able to use my work laptop in my room; however, my employer will not allow anyone to connect wirelessly. Is there any way to use my desktop as a router with an ethernet cable or can a purchase a wireless device that will allow me to plug in an ethernet cable into the laptop and use it in my room? Basically, I can't install any hardware on the laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the Windows Internet Connection Sharing on your wireless connection on your desktop by going under its connection properties - advanced tab and put a check box next to allow other network users to use this connection to connect to the internet. Then your desktops network card will be set to the IP of 192.168.0.1 then you are ready to use a cross-over cable to directly plug in your labtop into your desktop with no switch or hub in between.
