wireless usb card + prisma02.sys

Had a Buffalo USB wifi adapter for a few years now, I use to get BSOD's with prisma02 being the issue, Google turned up basically nothing except it's a driver for wireless chipsets.

I recently built a new PC from the ground up about a month ago, since then I've gotten this BSOD about 4 times, 2 times this morning within like 30 minutes of each other.

Buffalo SUCKS for drivers so can forget about getting this to run in Vista, unless there is some sort of universal prisma02 driver that works across different brands. Probably me sounding hopeful but I remember using generic modem drivers back in the days so 🙂

any ways, what can I do about this crash? it's happened on 2 totally different PC's, seems very sporadic.

USB from few years ago can not be made compatible with Vista.

Old chipsets were Not been designed with Vista in Mind so No drivers in the world can make them Vista compatible.

Lucky for us things are cheap these days and there is No reason to stay emotionally attached 😉 to a few years old USB Wireless device.

I am emotionally attached because this adapter has an MC connector and I can hook my 11dbi antenna up to it. And I thought possibly, even though it's older somebody would have created vista drivers, oh well. I guess you're right I should move on. I think you posted in another of my threads suggesting I get a router, would probably make more sense as then I wouldn't have to worry about a driver or BSOD at all.

I happen to have the same Buffalo USB. I got years ago because I needed to use it with a directional Antenna and at the time it was one of the few USB Wireless that could be fitted with External Antenna.

On WinXP SP2 it works very well. during the years worked on few computers, No problems.

Now it is used as a spare for None Vista Laptops when they need extended distance.

no problems? must be nice, got 3 BSOD's today with Prisma02 being the cause, I can't justify spending any more money on my PC right now so I guess I'll deal with it and hope it works itself out. Weird how I go weeks without a single crash, then I get like 6 in a weekend 🙁
