Wireless USB cable replacement

I want to connect a printer thats on a long USB cable by some kind of wireless cable replacement.

Last time i looked at this bluetooth was suggested and it was fairly expensive however now im seeing things like wireless usb hubs coming out but its a nightmare trying to search my local pc hardware sites since wireless and usb arent exactly unique search terms and my search lists are overflowing with these new devices that plug in a pc or printer and wirelessly talk to a router- and i dont have (or want) a wireless router

so since the tech seems to be simple now, surely someone come up with a single point to point cable replacement through dongles? Anyone heard of such a thing?

If it were mine, I would replace the printer with one that had built in Wi-Fi. It would be more reliable, and cost-effective in the long run.

Wireless USB turned out to be a massive failure.

Wireless USB hub = 150

The simplest setup that I could even think of would be an internal wifi card for your computer working as an ad-hoc network and then a USB to Ethernet bridge connected to a wireless bridge at the other end. You'd be looking at $100-120 easy.

If you really dont want to do a wireless router, I'd say stick with the long USB cable.
