Recently having problems with my desktop. My computer keep getting stuck at the shutting down page(the circle beside it still spinning so its not freezing) but it just won't shutdown/restart no matter how long i wait so i have to hold down the power button for like 5 seconds to reboot it. However, this long shutdown problem ONLY HAPPEN when my TP LINK USB WN8200ND V1 WIRELESS ADAPTER has no light which means no connection to the internet. It got nothing to do with my MODEM or INTERNET because my mobile phone is still connected to the wifi. So its like SOMETIMES i start my computer, the USB wireless adapter will not work and i have to restart my computer to get it working again but when i want to restart, it cause me to hang at shutting down screen(not freezing as the circle beside the shutting down word still spinning)..

I have a feeling it got something to do with the drivers. Thats why sometimes during after start-up, the driver for the tp-link or whichever never load. Which is why no matter how i unplug and replug in the USB or OTHER usb port, it won't detect it. Have to restart the computer
My drivers is the latest though.

There is NO SOUND when i unplug the wireless usb adapter and replug it. You know the sound that comes from the system when you plug in a thumb drive, yes, that's the sound that didn't take place.I have to restart my computer to get it working again.

If i keep holding on to the power button(4 sec) to shutdown, sooner or later, will spoil my hardware physically rather than software issues right? Because if spoil due to software issue, can still reformat to solve but if hardware, have to change . -.-

This issue happens around 2-3 times a week. Tried using "the wireless troubleshoot problems". This is what i get

Update 2: i tried installing a new usb wireless adapter that i just bought using the CD OR download the setup from the website. IT don't work

Update 3:Nevermind, i reformmated my computer. Now using my new usb adapter. Lets see if the issue persist again.

I forget to mention that during reformatt, i had to format my hard disk first before choosing a drive for installation. So after i formatted both drive, it says im not able to install windows on BOTH PARITION. it says something related to GPT/MBR partition. However, the error is gone after i restarted and is able to choose a drive to install windows to. This problem didn't occur previously when i reformatt last few times. Next when i reach the first screen where it ask me to choose my keyboard and region settings, my USB keyboard and mouse is not detected, thus i can't reformatt. I tried using other usb port and it didnt work. Regardless USB3.0 or 2.0. I've to keep restarting and try the reformatt till its able to detect my mouse keyboard. During bios and stuff, the keyboard/mouse did work. Once again,i think its driver issue(unable to load the drivers), thus its unable to detect the keyboard/mouse when i reach the first screen of reformatt(system restore). Take note that when i first got my computer, i don't have issue of keyboard/mouse not working during windows install @ the first screen where u get to click/type.

All this issues seems related. Driver issues. Could the driver issues be the symptoms of a HARD DISK PHYSICAL/HARDWARE failure since drivers is store in harddisk. Thus causing system not able to load the wireless usb adapter drivers AFTER windows startup AND during windows install(first screen)

Then it's not a driver issue if the system is not even recognizing the device. Sounds like it's just a faulty adapter.

if its a faulty adapter, ive already unplugged it whenever this issue happen right after start-up so why would it cause the system to get stuck at the shutdown screen since the system don't recognize it occasionally after start-up. So basically its like right after startup when system has load finish, the usb wireless adapter is not detected. It won't happen if the system is able to detect the usb adapter after start-up and then just randomly not getting recognized halfway using the computer. The system won't recognize it ONLY when it has issues right after start up.

It sounds like the device (driver) is in limbo. It's somewhat there, but somewhat not. A faulty USB device can do this, as it is made to be detected while the computer is running. Time for a replacement.

You mean the USB device(keyboard/mouse/wirelessadapter/) that im plugging in to the usb port or u meant the usb port itself from my computer is getting faulty? Thus causing driver issue, leading to unable to detect things that are connected to the port right after startup occasionally?
I have like 6 or 7 usb port. cant be all fault at same time?

I scanned the harddisk using the default hd test took and HDD tune,no error found.

If its not hardware issue, i guess its the updates from the software or windows itself causing all this issue right?

All the usb port uses the same update right? Which might explain why during windows refomatt, the keyboard/mouse not working at times regardless which port i plugged into and regardless how many times i reformatt because after that,im still using the same updates which might be causing the issue?

You could try a port in a different location ( front vs back, etc) but I am more suspicious of the device itself.

I stopped plugging in USB stuff into my Logitech G15 keyboard as its hub exhibits the same stuff as the OP. Even when searching for updated drives the G15 hates other USB devices.

Then I found out it is happy again after plugging it into a USB slot that supports 3.0 then the issues went away. #weird
