My build is finally finished but i am having trouble getting internet. I got my comp built at a local shop. The guy ordered a wireless card, but it wasn't compatible with vista. When he downloaded the driver for the wireless card on a cd and put it in my comp, my comp would lock up and freeze. I decided i am going to go with a usb adapter likehttp://www.linksys.com/servlet...pper&lid=1897446152B01"] this one[/URL]. The only problem, is that it is not compatible with vista. There is a driver for vista but next to the model number on the adapter, it needs to say version 4 so you can download the vista driver for the adapter. If it is any other version, i don't think it will be compatible with vista.

Sorry for the long message. Thanx for the help.

Well, the only way to find out if it ill work or not is to download it and install it. If your PC locks up or you still can't connect to the internet then it won't work.

I really do not understand the question.

A lot of Wireless adapters are not compatible with the Vista, their chipset are too old to work with a new OS like Vista.

No one should buy Wireless adapter before making sure that there is Vista drivers included or available to download.

Unfortunately it is easy to make a mistake since Wireless manufacturers have the nasty habit of changing Wireless chipsets while leaving the model and the name and the look same as before.

So it is possible that one finds a card that claim to be Vista compatible, and then you find out that there is 5 versions of the same card and only the last version is Vista compatible.

The only way Not to get trapped is to buy Wireless cards that are returnable and to treat the cards and their packaging with respect, so they can be returned if there is No Vista Drivers.
