Wireless USB 2.0 Adapters - Good for Gaming?

I recently purchased the Netgear WG111 USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter; everything installed smoothly and works like a charm. When I browse the 'net it is smooth as butter, however, when I start playing an online game, for example, World of Warcraft, I notice that my overall latency has gone up.

Usually I was in the 40-70ms range, and now I am in the 80-130ms range, with sometimes getting spikes to 200+ milliseconds.

Is this something that is common with USB Wireless Adapters? My older machine that has a PCI Wireless Adapter has never had this problem, so I am thinking of getting another PCI one for this machine as well...

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

my two cents about wireless

- use wireless on laptops,
- but if desktop computer is far from router, and is only used for surfing and a bit of gaming use a PCI wireless card.

- if ur going to be gaming dont use wireless at all, and especially when ur beside the router.

- PCI wireless is BETTER

- Buy a USB wireless if IT YOUR LAST RESORT the only one in the store and u need it NOW.

-USb wireless is power full than PCI wireless, PCI has better range.

I agree. Wireless USB only as a last resort. Or a machine that performance does not matter on.
