I bought one of the wired versions way back in February of '04. It's still going strong, but I'd really like to ditch the wire. I see that they made a wireless version for a period of time, but I don't know where to find it. Every vendor shows that it's out of stock or discontinued. Is there a suitable wireless replacement for this keyboard or am I just SOL?

The Ultra-X is an OEM product. AFAIK, there are only wired versions. You may find a wireless version on eBay. There are plenty of wireless kbds out there with the scissor switch, notebook style keys out there.

I found one here at Logic Computers but they don't ship outside Canada. :(

What other wireless laptop style keyboards are out there? When I did my search for the Ultra X, it was the only FULL SIZE keyboard with this type of action.

The Canadian outfit didn't have any anyway - just "taking orders"

Here's one: http://www.bluebonepc.com/cata...ail.asp?id=KB-LO-UtraX who claims to have one. Remember, it is a discontinued item so most leads won't pan out. There was another place I found with Froogle that claims to have 5-packs. Google gets lots of hits (using- Logitech 967498-0403 -but, as I said, most don't pan out.

I've been using an UltraX for about 3 years now. Although it's not as quiet as it once was, PS2 turns the machine on with the space bar, the keys are wildly responsive, and of course, scissor type FTW!!

I only wish Logitech would release the G17 UltraX Gaming/Media board. It would have soft blue illumination that can be switched from off-low-mid-high and a badass jogdial that got brighter as the volume increased. The entire top of the board would have an OLED display that could be configured with whatever plugin's you wanted. Logitech would maintain a database of these much like Firefox does with addon's. The palmrest would be firm, yet plush and never make you sweat. There would be 2 USB 2.0 ports on either side of the keyboard allowing easy access for our media readers, iPods, USB Guiness chillers, etc. Mic and headphone jacks would of course be in the back along with the 10 ft cord. And the key layout would be identical to the UltraX, except the keys would have some sort of extra long durability texture on top that only fades after 5 years. Oh yes, please give us adjustable levels of tilt from 1-10.

I don't think I'm being too unreasonable...am I?
