hey guys,
ok so our floor has a shared 8mbit link. each room has a port, which will hook up to the switch, which i doubt has any "special configuartion"- i.e no capping (i can hit 8mbit during off-hours without any issue).
i have a wireless router hooked up to my port. i use wireless once in a while if i'm in the lounge etc, but if i'm in my room i'm connected directly with an ethernet cable to the router.
my question is this. lets say there are 2 people connected wirelessly, and i'm connected wired, all to my router in this one port. would what they're doing effect my speeds? ok on the surface, you'd be tempted to say yes. BUT-- would there be any difference in MY performance from my setup if for example they weren't connected to my router, but directly into their ports, which is on the same floor hence shares the same internet connection anyway?
