Looking for a home theatre with wireless surround sound capability. Do they even exist? I tried searching google, but didn't find anything...I'm hoping that means I just don't know what to search for, not that they don't exist.

It can be done, but I am not sure if there are any on the market right now.

Well I was assuming you would need to buy them as a package since I wanted surround sound. However, I am not very knowledgable in the subject, so any enlightenment would be appreciated :)

Just get wireless speakers, as many as you need, then connect them to the proper outputs on your surround reciever.

Heh, whenever they market one that is acceptable good, I would replace it with the current set up at home. No more wires around the house, woohoo... I wonder what those 10K wires saleman will do to stay in business. Wires sale with 99% off maybe? :D

I wouldn't mind getting a pair of wireless outdoor speakers. I'm having a fence put up this week and that would be perfect for my backyard.

ok, so has anyone done this?

Here is what I was thinking:
I could have the front 3 speakers / sub wired obviously, since they won't be having to go across my living room.
For the surround speakers I would get a pair of them. So does the transmitter for the wireless speakers just hook into the receiver? This is the part that confuses me. Also, can someone recommend me a good pair of wireless speakers that aren't going to cost me an arm and a leg. I'd like to keep my entire budget under $1k (including receiver/5.1 setup).

You'd need to have D/A converters at every speaker for that to work right? It's going to cost way too much money to get the quality that audiophiles are looking for.

Hmm... how much power can you send wirelessly? Sometimes you need more than 100W per speaker...

pioneer has a HTIB with rears that are wireless. The problem is that the wireless speakers have a bit of a lag to them, so there is a slight echo.

Probably 50% of the customers I talk do dont want to run wires for the rears. The best thing to do is spend the extra hour (max) to run the wires for your rears and hide them well. You wont be sorry.
