Wireless Stops every MINUTE!!

I have a netgear mr814 router v1. I just bought a gigafast we741 usb wireless adapter. I've never utilized the wireless on this router until now. Every minute (or 63 seconds to be exact) my connection drops for about a second then returns for another 63 seconds. This is obviously not good for gaming or downloading anything. I know the problem lies with the wireless connection and not the internet connection because I tried pinging a server every second with the wireless and see the incremental dropout I described. Then, when I use ethernet, its fine. A little help will be much appreciated. THANKS!

hrm...weird. My guess is that your adapter is scanning for other AP's every minute. See if you can disable any settings that cause it to scan for new APs. Otherwise, I think there should be a service called WZC (wireless zero configuration) you could stop.

Check to see if your card is set to continuous power.
sometimes it's not set to continuous and the wireless card stops transmitting to conserver power.

Is that the silver one that looks like a tin can? My friend got it and it drops his connection every 20 minutes or so. To make matters worse, there's two versions of it and each has its own firmware updates.

I've troubleshooted the sh*t out of this thing. The netgear and gigafast just arnt compatible with the current drivers and firmware out now. I have a friend who also bought this adapter and has the same router as I and he has this same ODD problem! Thanks for the help tho, but I'm gonna have to return this POS. If anyone out there does have the same config as I and has it working in XP, I praise you and I dont know how u did it.

Are you using XP? The automagical wireless configuration bit in XP will cause that pause every 60 seconds or so. Just disable it and configure manually.
