I have a Dlink DIR-655+ and it's great but, I get low signal at the diagnol end of the house (1 story home).

I have most of the house wired w/CAT5 - can I stick a wireless access point (or whatever) on that side of the house to extend the range?

any one recommend a good performer?

thanks,
rp.

Sure... if you wanted to stick with Dlink, you could get a standalone AP: DWL-2100AP.

Just make sure the SSID, encryption and authentication are the same.

Also, you could go the route of getting like a Linksys WRT54G and setting it up as a AP, I've done that before. Just google it and you'll find a bunch of documentation.

ha.. it's funny you should recommend the 2100AP. I happen to have one sitting behind me that was connected to my printer as a wireless bridge.

I no longer have that printer, so it was just sitting there. I'll have to re-configure & try it out.

thanks!

I would probably do it as an AP as that should give the best performance. Try it the other way for fun and see how it goes.
