wireless setup help

I just got a siemens 2624 speedstream wireless router from the office depot deal and a dlink 650 wireless card to go with it and cant get this wireless setup to work for the life of me. my computer, winxp, doesnt detect any wireless signals at all even though i know that the router is on and the wireless is enabled. wep is diabled and i've tried an avaya wireless card as well to no avail. so basically i cant detect any wireless networks and i'm positive that my network cards are good. can someone offer any help? thanks for your time.

You set both your AP and wireless card with the same name? Usually the names are set by the manufacturer by default, so if you are using two different brands, you'll have to change one of them to match the other.
