sorry to post this as it may sound like a totally n00b question but can anyone refer me to a webpage where I can find some quick instructions on how to properly set up wireless protection on my home network? I recently bought a Linksys wireless router with 2 wireless PCI cards and one for my laptop. All is well connection wise but (sigh..) I have only enabled the MAC address authentication at this point. I have not done anything with encryption or any of the other security features as when I try it all goes to hell and nothing connects. I even got a few magazines with some help and I am still stumped on this one. I know I am not clicking something properly. I am using WinXP pro SP1 on all my system and everything works like a dream. Only problem I noticed is that every so often if I am connected to an online game, my connection drops... due to inactivity every 2 hours or so.
Also by setting up more security ... do you lose performance network wise?
