Wireless Security

I have a question.

How do you use the passphrase? I've inputed it into my linksys wireless router and I thought I could use the passphrase as is.

I noticed it creates 4 keys (hex i think).

I thought I could input my passphrase but it doesn't seem to be working.

For example, my passphrase is cybercalf.

when i input that for my key it does not work.

any ideas?

are you able to specify what number of bits are being used on each side? those need to match up with the passphrase.
sometimes 2 sets of software will not generate the same keys from one passphrase. ive never experienced it, but ive read about it.

WPA is much better, as WEP can be broken without much work. WPA2 is better still. youd be better off using one of those systems if all of your hardware supports it.

64 bit WEP passphrase is 5 characters
128 bit WEP is 13 characters

The passphrase is nothing more than the ASCII equivalent of the WEP key which is hex. Google "wep key generator" and you should find sites that convert between the two.
