Wireless Routers

Are they any good? POS? How much do I need for a good one. And would it work for my situation. I have one computer downstairs and one computer upstairs (rooms are directly above/below each other) and I wanted to buy a firewall for my main computer downstairs, but decided hey, maybe for some extra money I could hook up the upstairs computer to the cable internet too... And do I need anything special for this setup? The computer upstairs has a ethernet card, would I need anything else? Thanks!

you should be able to find a review somewhere(like Cnet,Zdnet or do a search on google on specific model you are looking for) on this wireless router. Personally I prefer product from SMC or Netgear. But linksys is more common and easier to find at retail stores. I think the price is between 120-200 bucks. The more expensive ones will give you more fancy security features.

There's also the 3com one that has 3 wired/switched 10/100 ports along with the wireless routing side, and it's $129 from tigerdirect.com

PracticallyNetworked.com is the place to go for buttloads of info on, and reviews of networking and hardware. When I went wireless for my laptops I followed their advice on hardware (SMC Barricade wireless router and Orinoco/Agere Gold PC cards) and have been running fine. Good troubleshooting sections also.
