Wireless Router with Static IP

Got a client that has a DVR set up at a site that records video surveillance. The DVR is hooked directly to a HughesNet modem and is assigned a static IP. We have software to connect to the DVR remotely and watch the video. No problem there.

Question I have is that I was hoping to get them going with a wireless network at the same location. This is my idea...

Hook up a wireless router as Static IP and forward the ports needed for the the DVR. The router still seems to allow DHCP addressing though even when set up with a Static IP. I would keep that enabled in order to assign IP addresses to wireless devices that connect. On the DVR, would I then set the IP address to be the static IP or use DHCP for that? I would assume I would need to keep that with DHCP, but with the port forwarding I should be okay.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
