Okay, I can't seem to find this information anywhere. This is the scenario:

The current hardware:
1. Dlink 704P Router with Printserver connected to two computers and a printer.
2. Netgear MR814 Wireless Router with DSL connection connected to one computer and two laptops

The need:
3. I want to bring internet access to #1. (This is the primary goal)
4. The ability to print from #2 is not important, but would be nice if possible.
4b. Keep costs to a minimum.

The details:
5. Cannot directly connect #1 and #2. (Don't know if that would have worked anyhow?)
6. Cannot connect the DSL modem to #1. (Since I know I could attach an access point to router #1)

The questions:
7. So, can I get an access point and connect it to #1 in its DSL port?
8. Or am I stuck with getting 2 wireless USB adaptors for the two computers on #1 concurrently with the wired router? Or two wireless PCI adaptors?
9. What if I get a wireless router with print server to replace #1?
10. Can two wireless routers work together?
11. Is there a simpler way to solve this? Cheapest?

The thanks:
12. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I start buying hardware that will not work and drive me insane! THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Hope the answers to these questions will also help others!

Link: How do I use a Wireless Cable/DSL Router as a Switch with an Access Point?

I would love to do that, but as I mentioned above, I cannot put the DSL on the wired router. The wireless and wired routers are in entirely different locations that I cannot change. Hence, my query into this issue.

My idea was to somehow use an access point + wired router to communicate with the wireless router which has the DSL. In essence, the access point would be like the "modem" for the wired router? Is that possible?

I am obviously not a total computer geek, only 50%. :) Help anyone?

Sure you need an Access Point that can act as a Client.

D-Link 900AP+, and Linksys WAP11, can act as clients.

Buy one and insert it to a regular port in the Wired Router, configure it as a client to the Wireless Router and you are set.

Take a look at the link above and set the Wired Router according to the instructions for the Wireless. I.e. disable DHCP and configure the IP according to You Wireless Router.

Just to update for future people looking at this topic, I ended up getting the Linksys WET11 Ethernet bridge, although the AP mentioned should have worked well also.

The configuration is now as follows:

DSL Modem -> Netgear MR814 Wireless Router -> Computer
Wireless MR814 -> Linksys WET 11 Bridge -> Dlink 704P Router with Print Server -> Two Computers and Printer
Wireless MR814 -> 2 Laptops

Thanks for your help, JackMDS!
