I'm looking to set up a wireless router in the next few months and I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions. Yes, I've searched and read some of the previous threads on this, but I thought that maybe people would have some suggestions for my specific needs. It will be for my apartment and I'd like to be able to use it at my friend's apartment two down the hall so a good range would be nice, but not essential. A print server would also be great. I'm a bit confused about the 802.11g standard, is it that much better? Quality is more important to me than price. Anyway, any tips?

I'm no expert on wireless routers, but I am pretty sure most will agree that D-Link and Linksys are usually the best out for the money. I bought an 802.11b Linksys Wireless Access Point / Router (BEFW11S4) for 79.00 at amazon.com a few weeks ago. It has a four port hub built-in, and connection for WAN link (to DSL or Cable Modem), but no print server. It's pretty good, and very affordable. I could have bought the G model they have out for about 130.00-150.00, but I think I will hold off on any G equipment until they finalize the standards. However, since G is compatible with B, it may not hurt to go that route, if you have the extra cash, and are willing to flash your hardware often. Also, as far as wireless to your friends house, don't count on going through more than 3 or 4 walls, and about 130 feet indoors. You may get better range than that, but don't expect more than that. Of course, you could always get a better antenna and maybe a signal booster to increase your range, if that is of interest to you. I know Linksys makes a booster for their equipment for an extra 99 dollars, though I don't know how effective it is.
