Ok, so I got a cable modem and 2 computers. The router im planning on getting is the linksys 802.11b BEFW11S4. Now a couple questions about it. Am I going to be able to have only 1 computer wireless? The 1st computer will be right by the modem, and router, so can I just hook in a rj45 from a standard nic into the router, and then only have the other computer connecting by wireless card? Also, on the back of the router, is a WAN port, 4 other ports, and an uplink port. Im guessing I plug in the modem into the uplink port? And then the 1st computer into the 1st normal port. Then what goes in the WAN port? Also, all I will need is just the router, and the wireless card right? I won't need like any other access points or anything? Thanks.

A: No. You plug the Cable Modem into the WAN port.

Q:And then the 1st computer into the 1st normal port.

A: Yes

A: The Cable Modem

A: Correct if you have a Wireless Cable/DSL Router and a Wireless Client Card you do not need more hadware.

The whole thing should look like this: Diagram of Broadband Connection with Cable/DSL Router.

P.S. You do need a Network card in the 1st computer and a Straight CAT5 to connect it to the Router.

P.S. 2 - If you do not know what Uplink is?

Read this: AnandTech - FAQ. CAT5 Straight, Crossover. What is CAT5, which one should I Use?

This might help too: Link: Wireless - Basic Configuration.
