Wireless router not remembering config

I had bought and configured a smc 7004wfw wireless router and successfully configured it with my cable modem. Everything was fine until i swithed off the power and went to sleep. Next day i had to redo all the settings on the router....now if i switch off the router it losses all its settings....is it normal??
