You can use some cheap routers and install / configure DD-WRT to bridge the wireless connection, no need to use a laptop.

Yes Sir..
When it came out, I got desperate. Since I intended to game with wired anyway because I'm anti-latency.

The reason I want to do this, is because it will be a temporary solution until I finish planing where to drill all the holes in the new house.

So if possible I don't want to spend any extra funds.

Damnit, I had another linksys router but, i plugged in the wrong ac adapter 12volt HEHE, and it went popinsmoke. I only have a wrt54g(v8) right now and it has ddwrt (micro).

Hopefully you've got wifi on your laptop. If so, enable ICS where you connect to the internet with your wireless card and then just plug in your PS3 to the wired nic on your laptop. Done. It should do for a temporary free solution until you get your wiring in place in your new home.

Wow, This works. Is there a way to configure it and make it faster? I can only get about 300kb/s on the demos from PS-Store.

I don't see the bottle neck since both devices has gigabit ethernet.

Thankyou very much Jackburton.

Wireless is slow, going through ICS is even slower. Change channels on your access point to 1, 6, 11 to see what works best.

Your throughput of 300 KBs - NOTICE THE CASE OF THE BIG B BYTES, little b bits.

That's typical of wireless b/g if your actual data rate is operating in 802.11b mode.

To put it nicely, wireless sucks.

The 20GB PS3s didn't have wifi.

You would probably be better to buy a cheap router and install DD-WRT on it.

I thought this might've been the case, But my router is set to transfer g only, and I can get 1.5megabyte/s download IN the basement on the laptop itself, but Not transfer that to my PS3 :(

802.11b, yes. 802.11g, no

With 802.11b, he may be close to the downstream Mbs of his ISP but with 802.11g it shouldn't be any different than as being on a wired connection.

Signal strength is key too

To put it plainly, spidey doesn't know what he is talking about.

I would try to forward these ports:

TCP - 10070-10080
UDP - 6000-6999 .
