Wireless router antennas

I dont think this exists, but is there any reason why it can't:

My wireless router is in my network room. Could it be possible for a manufacturer create a router that lets you use cat5 as a extender for the antenna? Like HDMI over ethernet?

Maybe connect an antenna to the cat5 port in other rooms that extends the routers range?
 
It is possible to have the base router in one location, sending a signal over ethernet to another device with an antenna that broadcasts the signal.... (It's called a wireless access point.)

But no, you can't have the router in one room, and just the antenna wire in another room attached to an ethernet cable. Attenuation over long wires degrades the signal very quickly, which is why wireless devices that do have 'remote' antennas only have relatively short cords going from the router/adapter to the physical antenna.
