Main Computer1 (built Nov 06) WinXP Pro fully updated everything= Zero problems. (over 3.2mbps)
Computer2 Win 2000 (built Nov 05) fully updated everything.... which is connected to USB/wireless is acting strange.
Signal strength is always about 40% and speed varies greatly when it actually works and does'nt disconnect. Anywhere from 512kbps to 1.9mbps usually.
I called Charter out yesterday to try and fix the other pc connection but to no avail. When you clicked on the Internet Explorer icon to get on the internet, it would show the "PAGE NOT AVAILABLE". They Hard reset the modem and fiddled with settings but still nothing on PC2. Zero Internet.
Lastnight I was thinking it may be on my end, having something to do with the computer/browser/something. Since I still had dial-up and I have'nt cancelled my land phone yet, I unplugged the wireless USB, fired up the old dial-up and it connected at 49k and there were no problems other than speed
I then disconnected Dial-up, plugged the wireless USB back in and everything worked.
I was on it for an hour this morning updating files, etc. I go back about 2 hours later to check something and it would'nt work. I had to first connect to dial up, bring up Internet Explorer browser, disconnect, and then reconnect the wireless usb.
Something is amiss and I'd like some help here please.
I'm a shiny (2 week old) newb at this "wireless/high speed stuff" and have not a clue on this.
