One of the university's departments was thinking of switching to go to all wireless, as a "test bed" for future connectivity. One of the things that they are trying to do is connect 36 computers to an access point in a computer lab. Now, being fairly clueless to what exaclty wireless can do,(hey i like my wires)So i pose a question, is wireless somehow switched? so is i really a decent way to hook a whole lab of computers up and get them all sending and recieving traffic? Can 2 computers sending at the same time (both hitting the AP a tthe same time) result in packet loss like a regular hub? Or does wireless somehow not have that issue?

In a Nutshell: Wireless Ethernet, from a Network point of view is the same as Wired. The CAT5 is replace by ?air?.

This was written long time ago, but may be still of help.
