I've got an always on connection w/a router that does DHCP and stuff. I have it uplinked to a Linksys 8 port switch. Would I be able to add almost any WAP by uplinking my router to the WAP and then uplinking the WAP to my switch? Which one would be the best to go with here? The ones with print sharing are nice, but i've seen most only do windows, I would need mac os x compatibilty. (print sharing isn't a biggie at all, cuz i think i can setup Xamba for that)

my computers consists of

(3) Apple Powerbook G4's (w/airports)
G4 Cube
Win XP machine

please advise on which do to...

thanks in adv

Ummmm...is this kinda what you had in mind (ignore the .s, just there for spacing)?

.WAP.

RTR = SWTCH

Problem with this setup is, you've got a topology loop. Not good. Try this:

RTR = SWTCH = WAP

Run your WAP in transparent/bridge mode. It will pass traffic between the wired and wireless segments just fine.

I've been most pleased with my Orinoco RG series devices. Since Apple's Airport line is rebadged Orinoco/Lucent stuff, this would seem to be a good way to go.

Any current WAP that offers printer sharing will NOT offer Mac printing support (no bi-directional at all, actually whacks a LOT of Win printers as well!)
You're better off using Xamba like you've already mentioned
