Wireless question (odd scenario)

The setup in my house is as follows..
Cable Modem --> Linksys WRT54G--> Vonage Linksys PAP2

All this is setup in the attic of my house. I get very good wireless signal, even in my basement (three floors down). I already have one phone line setup with Vonage which connects to the PAP2 in the attic. We recently transferred our home number to Vonage (as a second line), and I'll need to get my phone downstairs (two floors down) connected to Vonge as well. Vonage mailed me a new Linksys router modem PAP device (don't have the model number on me, but I can get it later).

Essentially what i'm looking for is a device which can grab the wireless signal, and output it into an ethernet connection so that I can plug the new Linksys PAP into it there, and then the phone into the linksys PAP.

Sorry if this may sound a bit confusing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A simple wireless bridge should accomplish this.

The Linksys WET54G will connect to a wireless network. Connect this to a switch and you've got live ethernet ports.

The Linksys WET54GS5 is the above with the switch integrated into the device.

They are a little pricey. If you don't need the 802.11g, the Linksys WET11 might be a little cheaper (albeit a little harder to find).

Hope this helps...

Most AP only 802.11g devices will have a workgroup bridge mode. Also any WDS compliant bridge should work as well. If you do get a dedicated workgroup bridge I'd stick with .11g devices. .11b will negatively impact your .11g LAN. Perhaps not a factor for you if your only sharing internet and serving the Vonage gear but personally I wouldn't take the step back to 11Mb wireless gear.

WET54G goes for about $90.

WET11 goes for about $60.

It does not make sense to save $30 and degrade your system.

If money is a bog problem, try to find one of the Belkin's 80g.11g, most of them can do WDS ( http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Modes.html ) with the Linksys and it can be found on sale for less than $30.
