Wireless Printing for PC AND Mac

Hello all-

First post in the Forums. Thanks for all the great info / insight.

I'm wondering what options I might have for wireless printing in a home with both PCs and Macs.

Currently the computers share an internet connection through a Linksys Wireless Router (WRT54GS). I have a Epson C82 Printer that works with both OSX, and Win XP Pro (through USB).

I've seen wireless printer servers from a few companies, none of which mention cross-platform compatibility. Assuming I find a device that works for both platforms, is it redundant to have both a wireless print server and a wireless router? Are there any other possibilities?

Bluetooth printing might also be an option, but I also run into the problem of single-platform compatibility. Any suggestions with this route? The Epson C82 does not have integrated bluetooth, so I would have to buy an additional device....

btw, switching to a single platform is not an option. My girlfriend is the Mac zealot, and I'm about to start my first PC build, so you can imagine my loyalties...

Thank you to anyone with suggestions.

You should be able to hook your printer up to something like a jet direct then install it on each computer as a local printer using the tcp/ip protocol and installing your OS specific drivers (mac drivers for the printer installed on the mac, and windows drivers on the windows box)

If either of the computers is always on, you can just leave the printer plugged into it and share it. Never done it myself, so I don't know how easy it is, but it's definitely doable without buying extra hardware.

The Wireless factor is probably most important. I'd rather not have another cable running from one end of the room to the other.

thanks!
