I think the significant achievement might be the 97% efficiency given such a large air gap. Paging rubycon :D

It didn't have anything to do with it, you are correct.

This. Most likely carried in their genome:

Patients with deletion of chromosome 13 or hypodiploidy by conventional cytogenetics, t(4;14), t(14;16) or 17p- by molecular genetic studies, or with a high plasma cell labeling index (3% or more) are considered to have high-risk myeloma.

Yeah - all this new use is great but aren't our electircal grids already overloaded in a lot of areas? I was under the impression making a big switch to electric vehicles would put enormous strain on an already strained system.

The idea sounds great but with the cost of green energy and the resistance to nulcear I am not sure this is going to work out well
"Rolling" blackouts.

The first use of resonate induction was in 2006 to power a light bulb over a few feet. It is newer and more complex than you think.

Tesla did that for a whole theater over 80 years ago.
Tesla also patented the use of wireless power for vehicle power, it is patent #416,774, filed Jan 2, 1892.

How would that work today with all the wireless things we use though?

It would still work I think. Tesla liked to use the frequencies from around 15-20Khz. In order for something to tap into that power it has to have a resonant frequency that matches the source. Most of the communications devices in use like cell phones are in the 900Mhz + range so way above the resonant frequency Tesla used. Tesla was huge on resonance and all his work is based on it, from water pumps, to turbines, to power, to earthquake machines. Tesla downfall is that he didn't understand business and the idea of offering anything for free really turned off investors.
